you
took my decoder ring
by Francine
DuBois
ate all my sugary cereal
to get to the bottom of the box
and you stole it, my key
to understanding humanity--
or at least that bit of culture
from which i've become estranged.
actresses and actors i've never heard of
line the tabloids, shows i've never seen
fill the airwaves and i suddenly realize
i don't care.
i'm getting old, kid, but you knew
this would happen. no amount of
frankenberry can keep me young.
will you still love me when i don't
recognize anyone on radio disney?
