saturday at work/saturday in work
By Kathleen Davis and the EastWestern University Dada Cluster

saturday in work

walk for house
under a black umbrella
which is protected from the sun

and of the eyes in the store
I approve with the babble
that I want to buy the milk
which is all
and I want to know if these counters
say "because cannot learn language?"

my part postpones to withdraw

Original Version
"saturday at work"
by Kathleen Davis

I walk home
under a black umbrella
protecting myself from the sun
and from the eyes
in the store
I nod to the babble
I want to buy milk
that is all
and I wonder if those clerks
say “why can’t she learn
the language?”
to my retreating back
