If only our president
was played by Charlie Chaplin
or Buster Keaton
and we, therefore, knew
that after the building collapsed
after he fell from the great height
after he worked himself into the machinery
he'd come out clean
and new again
because it had all been
a jolly good show.

Unfortunately, war isn't comedy.
